The Michael Project

Preschools

We help children remain in families by providing Early Childhood Development facilities in local communities. These comprise three pre-schools and a day care centre. Two of the pre-schools are in the Wingate and Greystone Park areas and cater for the needs of low-income families, while the third pre-school and the day-care centre are located at the female section of Chikurubi Maximum Prison.  These projects cater for children who live in the prison with their incarcerated mothers. They are either born in prison, or stay with their mothers when they are imprisoned because a suitable alternative for their care cannot be found.

The Michael Project’s pre-schools provide a safe, secure, and sensory rich environment for children to learn and play as they grow physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Nutritious meals, clothes and other basics are also provided. We employ qualified pre-school teachers who are equipped to identify signs of abuse and neglect. Our teachers also conduct home visits which facilitate the establishment of positive relationships with the families we serve.
